House System Mission
Through the teachings of Christ, St. Brigid-St. Frances Cabrini is inspired by the virtues,
Faith, Love and Hope to foster a community of integrity and excellence through the House
System. In the spirit of healthy competition, the student body is encourage to grow in
Catholic the Good, the Beautiful and Truth, reaching academic excellence whilst undergoing sportsmanship. In
doing so, the Academy strives for everyone to succeed as a collective community, without loosing the individual.
Throughout the year, students;
● Will be encouraged to maintain a positive behavior.
● Will be recognized for their academic achievements.
● Will be striving to form a healthy competition and forming unity.
● Will be recognized for their good deeds and efforts.
● Will be recognized for their leadership Catholic Identity through the practice of the Cardinal and Theological virtues.
House Captains & Co-Captains Expectations
When selecting house captains and co-captains, the students should reflect the school’s highest values,
highest leadership qualities, and the highest commitment to their neighbor.
Election Process
Captain will be an 8th grader | Co-Captain will be a 7th grader
There will be a fair voting process to pick the Captains and Co-Captains, where the whole school will have a voting day and there will be an announcement and ceremony by the end of the day. If a Captain or Co-Captain does not uphold the standards of being a leader in their house, there will be 3 warnings before they are removed and the next runner up will take their place.

Every year a new Captain and Co-Captain will be elected.
House Point System
The House System is an implementation of communal structure in hopes of striving for a
positive academic atmosphere where students are encouraged to excel socially and academically.
By incorporating this system of merits and demerits, the house System encourages students to
aim for excellence whilst also teaching them to be accountable for their own actions. The system
will reinforce positive behavior, and push for the students to grasp a sense of responsibility.
Point System:
Action Merit Points
(Each merit should have a VALID reason)
Helping a Teacher function
(if a student asks to get points they will NOT get points)
Citizenship 5-10 Points
Sportsmanship 5-10 Points
Demonstrating Catholic Values 10-15 Points
Any extreme action 10-50 Points with Approval (This should be actions that show Heroic Character.

(3 Strikes, after 3rd no recess)

Awarding Merits/Demerits
When students receive any Merits and Demerits, include a reason as to why they received those
points. Make sure to put your initials to sign off on points. This allows teachers know if there is a
trend of malbehavior in a certain class

Induction into a House: (Kindergarten & New Students)
● House assignment announcement: Once a student has chosen a house: they will be given a wrist band with their house name on it
● Welcoming a student or teacher: Begin with an assembly or gathering where students learn about the history and values of the house system.
○Introduce house leaders (teachers, student captains) and explain the importance of belonging to a house
House Oath or Pledge: Each student or teacher who is inducted into a new house, will have to take a pledge.
○ I pledge to uphold the values of my house, by virtues, faith, support my teammates, and always strive to do my best.
Expectations:
At St. Brigid – St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Academy, all students are expected to represent their
House with pride and integrity. As members of the House System, students should:

● Strive to live out the teachings of Christ each day.
●Demonstrate kindness, compassion and respect toward others.
● Act as role models of Catholic virtues in word and action.
Academics & Effort
● Work diligently in all subject areas, always doing their best.
● Take responsibility for their learning and come prepared for class.
● Celebrate the achievements of others, showing humility in victory and grace in defeat.
Behavior & Conduct
● Uphold the school rules and display positive behavior at all times.
● Show respect to teachers, staff, classmates, and visitors.
● Take responsibility for their actions and accept consequences with maturity.
House Spirit & Sportsmanship
● Support their House through participation, teamwork, and encouragement.
● Display good sportsmanship in all competitions—fair play, honesty, and encouragement are key.
● Work to build unity within their House and foster a welcoming spirit for all members.
Leadership & Service
● Look for opportunities to serve others, in and out of school.
● Encourage classmates to do their best and support those who are struggling.
● Represent their House with pride, setting an example for younger students.
